Every Monday (9.00-12.30) we will have short (~20-30 minute) meetings with Mark. Make sure to grab the next person in the list when you're done. Please be either in the lab, or at your desk or online.
We hold one group meeting per week, on Monday at 4pm. We cycle through 3 styles of group meeting:
A short review of progress over the last 3 weeks. Typically 3 slides: (1) Reminder/Introduction to your project; (2) Current Problems; (3) Short term plans. Strictly 5 minutes per person. The focus here is on getting others to help think about and fix your immediate problems.
For Journal Club - give a talk on an interesting topical paper. You should plan to talk for about 40 minutes. Introduce the topic. why this paper? What's good about it? What's bad? What can we learn? How might we incorporate it into our research?
This is an informal research talk intended as an opportunity to share your progress, discuss challenges you have encountered, practise your presentation skills, outline future plans, or raise any issues you would like feedback on.
You will have 10 minutes for the presentation, followed by a group discussion.
This meeting is held every 6 months, providing an opportunity for each group member to present their projects in a formal setting.
